I'm on ak's pc right now. Funny thing is i reformat my pc 3 times in a row with the restore disk today and didn't turn out well. I'm afraid it might cause the problem wat grunt said wear and tear. so first I use fdisk, delete the partition, and create a primary dos partition? do i need to buy a WinXp disk or I just use the restore disk as it is? cuz wat my restore disk do is just pop a message saids: 1.recover winxp 2.boot to command prompt. then i pick 1 and it pop another message said" this will reinstall winxp, press any key to continue" i continue. another message saids"are u sure" I pick yes. then it uses symantec ghost 7.0 to install files. is that count as both format and reinstall OS? I'm not sure thats wat it does.

Yes,
That restore disk automatically reformats and reinstalls Windows very fast. You do NOT need to use fdisk as fdisk is very old software that does not create partitions well.
