dividing drives

how do u divide the hard drive? i have plenty of hard drive space and i want to divide it and use the second drive for some other work.

The real term is called "partitionning".

Partitionning involves completely formatting your hard disk drive (or using rather complicated methods to try to save your data) and then creating separate partitions.

As far as my experience goes, I would not recommend you to do so. Having "two drives" appear on your computer will be slower and will tend tto be more confusing.
