Hi I am sorry but where can i download Linux? I had went to the libary to get some linux books, Now i want to get linux I dont kno where can i download it. and i found a site but i dont kno what to download

Just download one that sounds good to you, Most of them do the same functions, not all of them do. Also becarefull what you dl, allways check for viruses and junk.

Well when I asked this same question this what i remember Paulius saying: " Linux is like icecream(or something), there are many different flavors it just depends what kind of tast you got.

Well, anyway, just start googling for the information you are looking for.:D

BSD is a pain. It's almost twice as complicated as SELinux. I've tried it but the security parameters are always a pain. Installation is also not as easy as Linux as you need to manually allocate IRQs.


Which one should i get? Paulis what you got?
I use both Ubuntu and CentOS

I recommend either use ubuntu (www.ubuntulinux.org/) or fedora core 4 (http://fedora.redhat.com) both are pretty easy to use and from personal experience ubuntu is pretty stable.

one question i have ubuntu downloaded and somene told me to use fire burner to burn it to cd's so i have a set of cds for ubuntu but can someone help with burning it......aim me superman8253

Ubuntu only requires one cd. And most burning programs are capable of successfully burning isos.

ok i have ubuntu installed on this laptop....runs great and easy to install thanks to mr. g fizzle....but i need help installing AIM.....

Ubuntu has already a type of messenger server called GAIM. Hit ALT then F2. then type gaim and hit enter.

Yes. use 'man'

Ex:

man man
man ls
man fdisk

why doesnt the linux updatetool come with de_dust2...and i cant find it on www.csbanana.com

It does come with de_dust2. If you updated your server correctly, you will have all of the default counter-strike maps.

Well, ubuntu was a wonderful linux os because i did not have to del my windows os...i just played around with it on windows xp, from a iso. Works great and is simple in a way, to use.... lol


Just a little side note..
Microsoft, should really inovate somthing new. I am getting tiered with their products, they are to me like all the same, exept little services were added..... esp, with the win xp and how they put that luna theme to attract people, i think really it is just full of bugs and is a wast of memory, hey but thats my opinon I am sure people disagree with that... Thank god for the nerdy smart people that invented linux( i think they were swedish idk)...

Yeah. Same as in Windows, your port is already in use. Maybe your dedicated server crashed before.

A simple restart works.

the thing is..that port isnt being used...by any computer in the network....my other server im running on my other desktop is using port 27016.....27015 isnt being used but its saying it is being used...

Open up the terminal. cd to your server directory (cd /Desktop/hlserver)/. Next in the terminal type ./hlds_run -game cstrike +ip 192.168.1.100 +map de_aztec +maxplayers 20 +port 27015. Obviously you can change the game and map and maxplayers etc... To get your internal ip for +ip just open up the terminal and type ifconfig.

Nero (http://www.nero.com), in my opinion is one of the best burning software.
