New laptop probs

Ok i just got a new labtop but I have a prob with it

I connect my ethernet cord to it and restart my modem but wen i try and connect to it i always get limited or no connectivity?

why is this wen i connect it to my desktop it just says connected and works anything helps thx

Reboot router and modem and reinstall the drivers for the nic if you have them.

I dont run a router ok so I got my labtop to work but now my computer is doing the same thing wtffffffff.
