View Full Version : Adding 512MB of PC2700?

Well i just ordered some Corsair 512MB PC2700 RAM, and wondering how much of a performance increase i will get with it.

here are my current specs.

AMD Sempron 2800+
512MB PC2700
ATI Radeon 9600XT All-in Wonder.

lol sorry to tell you bud.
you want get a big enough performace with 1024 ram from 512mb ram as hlds only uses about 60-70 mb of ram maybe 100mb maxed out with 16 players connected. if you are running alot of procceses or plan on doing video editing while running a hl server it would help but in the long run all you need is a basic computer with a good internet server provider with high upload as i have sdsl which is a 768 kbps upload i believe and i run a 22 slot public server with 512 mb ram p4 at 2.2 ghz and its under 50 pings when its full. as my advice you should have upgraded your cpu first

Ok thanks, even tho i wasnt exactly talkin about hosting a game server. I was talking about the overall performance while playing games and such.

On Counter-Strike: Source, it will decrease lag and offer smoother performance.

Even if the programs don't use RAM, the operating system will use the memory for caching which will increase performance.
